Sunrise quilt project

Sunrise for Lyle

A good quilting friend is in his last days.  I’m posting this lovely sunrise fishing project in honor of him.

Lyle was the husband of the gal who started our guild.   When she died, she asked us to keep Lyle busy.  And that we did.  His wife had taught Lyle to cut fabric for her and he was an expert.   For years and years he has cut kits for our guild, and projects for individuals, and mission quilt squares for 2 churches.  One of the churches makes 300+ quilts a year from  the 6-1/2″ and 3-1/2″ squares Lyle cut from donated and estate fabric stashes.   Non of us will ever be able to be as productive without Lyle.    In his mid 80s, after a lifetime of farming, he was still providing comfort to others.

This project finishes at 24″ x 36″.    I have not included separate pattern pieces in this download and no color chart.   What you will get is the picture above to guide  your own color choices,  a sequencing map to guide your piecing into large segments,  a single page line drawing — for you to color in as you wish, and a full size line drawing on 16 pages that you can use as you wish:  as  a basis for applique or to cut into patterns for English or freezer paper piecing.

The download costs $5 via charge card or Paypal.   It simply covers my cost of posting.

Enjoy this pattern and remember those guys and gals who have made our quilting lives so rich.
